How to insert Vaginal ring (Nuvaring) ?
This ring is to be used for 28 days cycle. For 21 consecutive days, ring is inside your vagina. After 21 days, the ring is to be removed for 7 days. In this period, menstruation occurs. After 7 days, a new ring is to be inserted into vagina.
Before inserting the ring, it is necessary to wash the hands properly. The sides or ring are to be gently pressed together between thumb and index finger. The ring is to be pushed into vagina as deeper as possible. Need for backup contraception arises if the ring is out of vagina for more than 3 hours in the first 21 days.
The new ring is to be inserted within no longer than one week after removing old ring.
What if the Vaginal ring (Nuvaring) slips?
No need to panic if the ring slips out of the vagina. Wash it with lukewarm water and reinsert it as soon as possible. If ring is lost, new ring is to be inserted within 3 hours. Otherwise, backup contraception is needed for next 7 days.
